The Queensland Government has a policy of supporting local industry through the Local Industry Policy, “A Fair Go For Local Industry November 2007”. Projects being delivered under the Australian Government’s Nation Building-Economic Stimulus Plan (the Plan) are committed to supporting competitive local industry and to ensure that local industry is provided with full, fair, and reasonable opportunities to tender for work on infrastructure and resource-based projects and major procurements in Queensland. This applies to government projects delivered by both the private and public sectors.
Successful contractors delivering the Nation Building-Economic Stimulus Plan are required, under the Queensland Government's Local Industry Policy, to engage in a Local Industry Participation Plan. A copy of the Local Industry Policy is available at:

All contractors, consultants and suppliers (excluding sub contractors working directly for head contractors) wishing to participate in the delivery of the Plan in Queensland also have to be prequalified or registered with the Department of Public Works.
The following are the simple steps to prequalify or register.
