The Australian Government’s $42 billion Nation Building-Economic Stimulus Plan (the Plan) creates opportunities for construction businesses throughout the country.
Of the $42 billion, $21.5 billion will be invested in Australian built infrastructure, with Queensland being allocated $4 billion of this amount for building projects over the next three years.
Under the Plan, every state school in Queensland will receive at least one project and 4,000 new social housing dwellings will be built across the state.
All school projects will be small to medium in value, with a large proportion having a construction cost of less than $1 million. However projects may be bundled to streamline delivery within and across regions.
Nation Building projects/programs in Queensland have now been posted on this website under Tenders. The map of Queensland on the home page will also filter these projects/programs by region. In late May 2009 there are over 700 construction opportunities posted on the Tenders page.
Contractors, sub contractors and suppliers of goods and services who want to participate in the delivery of Nation Building in Queensland are encouraged to seek business opportunities by responding to the information posted under Tenders.
Option 1
A contractor who wishes to be eligible to bid for projects over $250 000 must be prequalified with the Department of Public Works.

Once prequalified, contractors will need to constantly monitor Tenders to bid for current tenders.
Option 2
To be a supplier of goods or deliver projects under $250 000, they need to register at www.qbuild.qld.gov.au.

Subcontractors and suppliers of goods and services can view the contractors who have been awarded contracts. View Tenders and awarded contracts.
Subcontractors and suppliers of goods and services will need to contact the awarded contractors directly.
